Vice President and General Manager
Florida City Gas and Coastal Georgia
Jay Sutton was named vice president and general manager, Coastal Region in July 2008. He is responsible for driving financial performance, meeting customer needs, ensuring compliance, building strong community relationships and all other operations at Florida City Gas and Coastal Georgia.
An engineer by training, Sutton brings 23 years of diverse company experience to his position. Most recently, he served as director, Strategic Alliances, and played a key role in the successful transition of AGL Resources’ call center operations and other back office functions to India.
Prior to that, Sutton held numerous engineering leadership positions, and was responsible for centralizing and standardizing our pipeline construction program and practices. He implemented new procedures and technology that led to improved customer service and significant capital cost reductions.
Sutton was also responsible for managing the construction program in Georgia which included one of the most aggressive pipeline replacement programs in the country, and an overall annual construction budget of more than $150 million.
Sutton received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University and is a registered professional engineer in the state of Georgia. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Florida Natural Gas Association.
