Community Engagement
For more than 150 years, the employees of AGL Resources companies have made a difference in the communities where we operate. We believe that being a good neighbor can’t be separated from being a good business, and we are firmly committed to responsible, responsive and reliable partnerships with the people and organizations that make our communities better places to live.
Still relatively new to the Golden Triangle region, AGL Resources continues to build local community partnerships that enhance our commitment to education and the environment. We joined the Greater Beaumont and Port Arthur Chambers of Commerce, and are looking forward to being a productive member of the community for many years to come. For example, we're proud to support The Melton YMCA Youth and Government Program, donating funds to help local students travel to Austin to learn more about our state government. For the last two years, we've also participated in the Texas Energy Museum's BlowOut and the Taste of the Triangle fundraisers and supported the Pride of Beaumont Masonic Lodge #291's Back to School Supply Giveaway. We've helped finance improvements at the Spindletop Little League Field and will be working with local and state historical agencies to preserve the legacy of Spindletop. On July 28, 2011, AGL Resources was honored with an award from the Texas Historical Commission recognizing GTS's work on archeological features at Texas' oldest oil field. Other activities include support for Ward 4 clean-up efforts and the Shorkey Center.
