Non-binding Open Season

Project
AGL Resources, an energy services company with more than 150 years of natural gas experience, is planning to build a natural gas storage facility in Beaumont, Texas, in a highly liquid market area with access to counter-seasonal demand. The Golden Triangle Storage project initially will provide 12 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of salt dome storage capacity in two caverns, each with 6 Bcf of working capacity that is potentially expandable up to 9 Bcf . The project includes an approximately nine-mile pipeline header system. This high-deliverability salt dome storage facility is strategically located to serve Texas, Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and long-haul interstate pipeline market needs. The first cavern is expected to be in commercial operation in late 2010 to early 2011 and the second in 2013.

Services
Golden Triangle Storage is expected to meet the growing demand for high-deliverability storage service by providing the following services:
Firm Storage   Interruptible Storage
Firm Parking   Interruptible Parking
Firm Loaning   Interruptible Loaning
    Interruptible Wheeling
    Hourly Balancing

The facility is expected to connect to six pipeline systems: Texas Eastern Transmission (WLA pool), Kinder Morgan Texas, Centana, Florida Gas Transmission (downstream of station 6), Energy Transfer Company’s Texoma Pipeline and ExxonMobil’s Golden Pass.

Benefits
The proposed Golden Triangle Storage facility is expected to strengthen the region’s position as a national energy center, enhancing existing and planned energy infrastructure, while providing much needed high-deliverability storage services for peaking and balancing needs. The project is expected to offer long-term competitive services for industry, power producers, local distribution companies, producers and marketers.

Open Season
A non-binding open season ran from Monday, April 30 through Friday, May 18, 2007. View open season results >
